Sydney radio station 2GB has celebrated 95 years on air this week. The station commenced broadcasting at 8pm on 23^rd August, 1926, under the operator Theosophical Broadcasting Station Pty Ltd. It was one of the earliest established radio stations in Australia and became the first Australian station to broadcast news bulletins on the hour, every hour in 1957.

2GB's Content Manager Luke Davis said the 95-year-old station has been "part of the fabric of our city and is indelibly linked to the daily lives of Sydneysiders". "While many things have changed in those 95 years, our core philosophies remain the same as they were on Day 1. We aim to inform, to entertain, and provide companionship for our loyal listeners," he said. "Now, perhaps more than ever, our team is aware of that great responsibility and privilege. Happy Birthday 2GB - here's to the next 95 years!"
