Iloilo media practitioners and various partners launch media-citizen council and guide for journalists
Various media practitioners and partners will formally launch the Iloilo Media-Citizen Council (IMCC) at the University of Philippines Visayas (UPV) in Iloilo on 16th September. Media members include publications and media organisations in Iloilo, as well as representatives from various sectors. The initiative pushes for independent co-regulation of the media in the Philippines.The event is supported by the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) and International Media Support.
The event titled, Media Citizen Councils: For the Media and Citizens, By the Media and Citizens, will also launch the Western Visayas Journalists' Guide, with topics on online reporting, safety and security, ethical considerations for multi-platform reporting, and newsroom practices. The guide was developed by various institutions, primarily by IMCC and UPV, with support from PPI and the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
