The Australian has announced that Michelle Gunn has been appointed Editor, taking over from John Lehmann, at the national masthead. She will also continue her role as Editor of The Weekend Australian. John Lehmann will shift to be both Commercial Director and Managing Editor of the paper. Current Managing Editor Helen Trinca will continue as Editor of The Deal and will also take a new role as Associate Editor of the paper.
