What services does Quattro Communications offer?
We are a boutique public relations company. We focus primarily on strategic counsel, reputation management, investors relations, corporate communications and stakeholders’ engagement, and media and crisis capabilities building.

What size is Quattro Communications?
In our 29 years of existence, we have partnered with over 400 multinational and local corporations across industries.

Where does Quattro Communications have an office?
We are centrally located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Do you have a particular area of focus?
We are particularly strong in the aviation and aerospace industry having worked with al aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airport management as well as aviation-related industry groups.

Who is the founder and why did they start the agency?
Quattro was founded by four individuals. In the 1990s, companies which engaged public relations consultants were primarily multinationals. At the same time, PR companies operating in Malaysia were predominantly from the US or UK.

Quattro Communications is one of the pioneer local PR companies. One of our goals is to make public relations an integral part of any business. We want Malaysian companies to understand and appreciate the importance of public relations and, at the same time, make PR accessible to Malaysian companies.

Tell us about the leadership team.
The four individuals who started Quattro Communications were colleagues who worked together at an international public relations consultancy. Each specialised in a particular practice of the industry.

Over the years, Quattro’s leadership underwent a series of changes. The company is currently helmed by one of its founder partners, Mei Kuan who has over 35 years of experience in the industry.

Mei’s experience covers consultancy and in-house public relations in Malaysia and the United States. She was also trained as a journalist early in her career.

What is next for Quattro Communications? What is the five-year goal?
It is not our aim to have a huge portfolio. We deliberately keep our client portfolio niche and manageable. This is to ensure that our clients have access to top-level counsel, complete focus and timely turnaround. At the same time, it gives the team time to understand our clients’ businesses which is important if we are to provide sharp counsel.

Our goal is to complete our transition to a communications strategy and advisory company building and strengthen our client’s needs across platforms.

In a sentence, describe your ideal relationship with a journalist.
Personal yet professional without overstepping boundaries.

Tell us about a campaign you are currently working on or are particularly proud of.
Too many really. But during the Covid Movement Control era, we were particularly proud of the one-day international aerospace / aviation webinar we organised on behalf of our client. The webinar saw participation from over 20 speakers across five countries, including two Malaysian ministers. The event underscored Malaysia’s aerospace aspirations.

What skillsets do you look for in new hires?
It is not so much skillsets but the right attitude - candidates who see communications as a passion rather than a job; who are willing to learn and teachable and, most importantly, who persevere rather than settle for instant gratification.
