Chris Janz, Nine's Chief Digital and Publishing Officer has announced he will be departing the business in September after four years leading Fairfax, and subsequently Nine's, metropolitan publishing business.
Nine has split Janz's role into two and made the following appointments:
- James Chessell, currently Executive Editor of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, will step up as Managing Director - Publishing. James will oversee all of Nine's metro publishing business, including The Australian Financial Review.
- Alex Parsons will take on the role of Chief Digital Officer, overseeing Nine's digital businesses including product and technology across Nine, and he will remain on the Board of Drive.
- Tory Maguire has been appointed Executive Editor, with editorial oversight of mastheads The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times and WAtoday. She was previously National Editor at the newspapers, where she oversaw coverage in key areas including national politics, business and world.
James, Alex and Tory will start their new roles over the coming months.
