Kiwi firm takes out top reporting award
The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation has won the 2024 Australasian Report of the Year award at this year's ARA Awards held in Sydney. It is the third time the Guardians has won the top award, following wins in 2021 and 2022. The company also won the Award for the best report in the Financial Services Sector.
The judges commented that the Guardians take annual reporting very seriously, and are very good at it: "The Guardian’s report is written clearly and provides thorough coverage of the organisation’s activities, performance, and the way ahead. An exceptional feature is case studies which show the Guardians understand and value the diversity of their staff, and the benefits that diversity brings. In addition, the presentation of key sections of the report in both English and Māori demonstrates concern for the inclusion of all stakeholders."
While entries came from as far afield as Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, three of the finalists for the Report of the Year Award were from Western Australia, two from the rest of Australia and two from New Zealand.
In Australia, Western Australia was the ‘hero state’ with three organisations winning Best of Industry Sector Awards, including Wesfarmers, Main Roads WA, and the City of Stirling.
New Zealand organisations to excel included Sanford Limited, which won the Award for the Best Report in the Resources and Production Sector and received the ARA Chair’s Commendation for achieving Gold Awards in ten consecutive years, and Auckland International Airport, which received an Award for Communication.
Other major winners were CLP Holdings in Hong Kong, as well as Petronas Chemicals Group, UEM Sunrise and IOI Properties Group, all from Malaysia.
