Sandpiper releases AI in Communications study

Strategic communications and public affairs firm Sandpiper and PRovoke Media has launched a new study titled “AI in Communications - Industry Opportunities and Risks”. The study, which surveyed 406 communications professionals working in both in-house and agency roles in Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and the Middle East & Africa, shines a light on the challenges the industry faces when dealing with AI.

Some key findings of the study include:
  • 86 per cent of communications professionals globally see AI as an opportunity rather than a risk.
  • 61 per cent of communicators say they are already using generative AI tools in their daily work.
  • 85 per cent of communicators are concerned about the possible legal and ethical challenges that may arise from the use of generative AI technologies in the future.
  • Only 41 per cent of industry leaders globally have a strong understanding of AI, with leaders in Asia Pacific perceived to be the least prepared (25 per cent).
  • 65 per cent of respondents predict the industry will face major transformation within the next three years.
