ABC to relocate 300 Ultimo staff to Parramatta

The ABC has announced it will relocate 300 employees currently working in the broadcaster's Ultimo headquarters, to a new facility in Parramatta by 2024. Managing Director David Anderson said the company's decision was part of its five-year plan, announced last June, to move 75 per cent of the public broadcaster's staff to Western Sydney by 2025. "It will be easier to engage with more parts of Sydney than is presently the case with the Ultimo headquarters," David said.

Approximately 200 staff to relocate from Ultimo will be from content divisions, including news, regional and local, entertainment and specialist divisions. The remainder will be selected from Ultimo's support teams. The first stage in the plan will involve a tender for a property advisor to assist in locating facilities in Parramatta that can support radio and television studios, as well as public space for community engagement. There are currently no plans to decommission any production facilities in Ultimo.

The ABC said it will begin a consultation period with staff and unions this week.
