Publication Profile: Artichoke

By Chloe Arentz

Tell us about Artichoke. What sort of content do you publish?
Artichoke showcases interior architecture, design, objects, products, and the people that bring them to life. As Australia’s most engaging interior architecture and design magazine, it presents inspiring examples of design excellence and discussion on design issues to industry professionals and a broader audience of design-savvy consumers. Artichoke brings you a special slice of what’s happening and what matters in Australian design today.

Who's reading Artichoke?
Industry professionals and a broader audience of design-savvy and design-curious consumers.

Who makes up Artichoke's editorial team?
I believe we have one of the greatest editorial teams in the country here at Architecture Media (they’re looking over my shoulder right now). The team works across five magazines, four websites and countless events, all related to architecture and design.

What key trends have you noticed this year or expect to be covering soon?
I think we’re seeing a lot of texture, colour and richly layered interiors. In Artichoke magazine, we cover a lot of commercial interiors - restaurants, bars, hotels, workplaces - and that’s what I’m seeing in these types of spaces.

How have you seen the magazine evolve since your time as Editor?
In my 10 years as Editor, the magazine has highlighted and celebrated emerging design talent, grown its social media channels, extended its collection of affiliated events and awards programs, and discussed and debated design issues alongside the community.
