You were recently appointed Editor of Punkee. Walk us through a day in your role.
Every day is different depending on what reality show is airing right now. Generally, I start my mornings by scouring the interwebs to stay across any news in the pop culture realm. Then I'm either allocating articles to writers or approving their pitches. The rest of my day is spent editing, making memes, brainstorming video ideas, commissioning freelancers, liaising with the wider Junkee team, and, if I'm lucky, I'll try to write a story or two myself.

Punkee covers a broad range of entertainment and pop culture content - what topics are trending right now?
The Bachelors, of course! As one of the shows that Punkee built its following around, The Bachelors is a reality series very dear to our hearts. There's a lot to look forward to in 2023 with Married at First Sight, Australian Survivor and Australian Idol all returning by the end of the month. We're going to be busy - I'm excited!

Does Punkee have a target audience?
Millennial women who are passionate about Punkee but we write for anyone with an interest in reality TV, pop culture, dating, beauty, and sex.

How closely does Punkee work with Junkee? Do you share content at all?
I work super closely with Junkee's Editor-In-Chief, Alice Griffin, and we generally coordinate our content together so that we complement each other and don't clash. We share each other's stories if relevant to our respective audiences.

Who makes up the editorial team? Are you looking to expand your team?
At the moment, Punkee is a team of two (me and another staff writer) alongside a few freelance writers. I am currently hiring for a Senior Entertainment Writer to join Punkee - I'm looking for a special someone with a passion for reality TV and creating engaging content.

Do you have any tips for pitching to and getting in touch with Punkee?
Please introduce yourself. I can't count the number of times that I've had to stalk someone on LinkedIn just so I know who they are. Another tip is to read Punkee before pitching. Punkee has its own voice and there are certain topics we do and do not cover, so if you're sending generic pitches to a bunch of publications, this will be obvious to me.
