WE Communications strengthens health sector leadership with new appointments

WE Communications has announced the appointment of Gemma Hudson as Executive Vice President of Health Innovation and Growth. The newly created role will see Gemma responsible for accelerating sector growth opportunities and cementing the agency’s health sector proposition in Australia and across the Asia Pacific region. Gemma brings more than two decades of experience in health communications, with a background in prescription and consumer health, medical technology and the not-for-profit space. She joined WE Communications in 2013 as General Manager and has since held a number of roles within the business, including, most recently, CEO of Australia. Before joining WE, she was with Haystac for four years where she established the agency's national health care offering as Head of Haystac Health. Gemma has also previously worked with Edelman's health team as Associate Director and with Burson Marsteller as Account Director. Her experience has seen her work with a number of leading health companies, including Bayer, GE, GSK, Janssen, Jenny Craig, Pfizer and Sanofi.

WE Communications has also appointed Dan Woods to fill Gemma's former role as Managing Director. Dan joined the agency in early 2020 on an interim basis and has since assumed the position permanently. Before joining WE, he was Executive General Manager for brand and business development for Bolton Clarke, one of Australia’s largest independent aged care and health services providers. In this role, Dan oversaw the development and delivery of the unified Bolton Clarke brand, following the merger of RSL Care and RDNS.
