AAP to relay Press Association Olympics coverage
AAP has confirmed it will not send journalists to Japan to cover the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in nearly 75 years. Editor Andrew Drummond told Telum Media that the health and wellbeing of AAP's journalists and photographers was paramount. "The COVID-19 pandemic has presented insurmountable hurdles for our people travelling from Australia," Andrew said.
AAP will instead use a journalist and photographer from the Press Association to cover the games on the ground in Tokyo. "AAP's close relationship with international partner agencies, plus articles from a dedicated team of the newswire's specialist Australia-based reporters, will ensure a substantial and quality source of Olympics content," Andrew said.
