The Department 
SBS is the most multilingual public broadcaster in the world. With 60 plus language services, we deliver news, information and entertainment and inspire social cohesion by connecting communities through multilingual conversations, helping everyone feel at home in Australia. 

The Role 
Reporting to the Head of Planning & Development, the Senior Editor, Social Cohesion Unit would see you: 

• Providing editorial leadership and exercise editorial judgement to ensure the appropriate selection and coverage of content
• Keeping across the news agenda to identify any potential stories and lead on planning, editing, and generating content ideas  
• Assigning tasks to produce bespoke multiplatform content for video, podcast, social media, and website 
• About you 
• Confidence to coach and mentor the team, whilst monitoring, reviewing and assessing performance objectives
• Demonstrated Journalism / Editorial experience in Australian media â Investigative, in-depth or verification reporting skills are desirable, but not necessary
• Exceptional writing and editing skills
• Demonstrated understanding of cross-platform journalism production processes

This role is being offered on a fixed term contract for 13 months, with a potential view to extension.
