The company
Australian Associated Press, Australia’s independent national newswire, has been creating and delivering independent, trusted news and multimedia for almost nine decades. It proudly operates as a non-profit organisation, delivering fact-based and non-partisan journalism to hundreds of media outlets for the benefit of all Australians.
The role
AAP is seeking an experienced and highly organised Multimedia Assignment Editor to join our national multimedia team.
Working closely with the Multimedia Bureau Chief and Deputy Multimedia Bureau Chief, you'll play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating and delivering leading visual news coverage. You'll help drive the daily multimedia news agenda, ensuring photography, video, graphics and other visual content is strategically planned, efficiently resourced and delivered to the highest editorial standards.
As a key operational leader, you'll coordinate photographers, videographers, reporters and external contributors across multiple states and time zones, balancing breaking news and planned events while maintaining a strong focus on client needs and commercial opportunities.
This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who thrives in a newsroom environment and enjoys solving logistical challenges while enabling outstanding visual journalism.
The candidate
We're looking for an experienced multimedia newsroom professional with exceptional news judgment, strong organisational skills and a passion for visual storytelling.

You understand the demands of a modern newsroom and can confidently balance editorial priorities, staffing requirements and commercial considerations.
