The role

How to apply
- AAP is looking for a Deputy Sports Editor to help manage the creation and production of editorial content for a broad customer base. This is a permanent, full-time position that will involve regular shift and weekend work.
- Applicants should have comprehensive production and management experience in a daily news environment and be capable of operating under tight deadlines.
- The role will suit an experienced and energetic leader who can assign, oversee and edit content, plan and manage coverage of major events, and help coordinate rosters and annual leave.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is excellent organisation, professional presentation and good time management.
- The ideal candidate will have outstanding news judgement and knowledge across sports, general news and global affairs. They will have a positive and engaging approach to leadership, high-level editing skills and a solid understanding of media law.
- They will collaborate with other business units, coach and develop staff as required, and liaise directly with external stakeholders as necessary.
- The person will be a team player with the ability to work flexibly and independently when required. Candidates will be expected to maintain the highest standards of accuracy, impartiality and fairness and commit to AAP’s Code of Practice.
