Various media practitioners and partners will formally launch the Iloilo Media-Citizen Council (IMCC) at the University of Philippines Visayas (UPV) in Iloilo on 16^th September. Media members include publications and media organisations in Iloilo, as well as representatives from various sectors. The initiative pushes for independent co-regulation of the media in the Philippines.The event is supported by the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) and International Media Support. 

The event titled, Media Citizen Councils: For the Media and Citizens, By the Media and Citizens, will also launch the Western Visayas Journalists' Guide, with topics on online reporting, safety and security, ethical considerations for multi-platform reporting, and newsroom practices. The guide was developed by various institutions, primarily by IMCC and UPV, with support from PPI and the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
