Telum Talks To: Roxanne Andrews, Editor of Women's Golf

By Kristy Nguyen

What does a day in the role as Editor of Women's Golf look like?
Keeping up with professional tour news, commissioning writers to produce feature stories, liaising with golf brands, networking within the golf industry, and when time permits, playing a round.

How did you get your start in journalism?
I got my start writing travel features and profiling athletes for the Fiji Airways in-flight magazine.

What are some of your favourite articles published in the magazine so far this year?
The interview with our current cover star, Charley Hull, is pretty cool. Same goes for the feature on Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Metalwood Development at Titleist. Plus the Kauri Cliffs (New Zealand) golf resort review is a favourite story too.

Who makes up your team at Women's Golf?
As a quarterly publication, we are a fairly small crew of freelance sports writers, a fashion and beauty editor, the magazine designer (integral!), and expert contributors in physio, nutrition, and instructional content.

Are there particular trends or topics you're looking forward to covering this year?
Yes, I’m heading to Spain to cover the 2023 Solheim Cup soon. The Solheim Cup is formatted as a Team Europe vs Team USA event. The rivalry is real and the level of golfing talent on show is phenomenal.

Outside of Women's Golf, what do you do in your spare time?
I go see bands, surf sometimes, read books, and travel a lot with my other role as a travel writer.

What advice would you give to PRs when sending a pitch?
Spell my name right please and make sure your product aligns with the magazine content.
